Description
California Early White Garlic is a softneck variety, easy to grow with a rich garlic flavor and good for storage. This garlic is grown organically, in my garden in Missouri, with no chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides, and is suitable for planting for next year’s garden or use in your kitchen.
Garlic will not be shipped outside of the US, to Hawaii, or to Allium restricted counties in the states of Idaho or Washington.
Suitable for planting in USDA climate zones 5-9.
For planting, separate each bulb into individual cloves (10-15 cloves per bulb). Plant each clove individually, with the pointed end up, about 2″ deep, spaced 4-6″ apart. I plant in the fall, after our first frost, while the soil is still workable. Plant in rich, well-draining soil; garlic prefers slightly acidic to neutral soil. Add a layer of mulch on top of the garlic to maintain soil moisture and regulate temperature. Garlic can be harvested in late spring to early summer, when about 1/2 of the leaves start to brown and dry.
